Handmade Mexican Pottery
Grupo Terracota Alfareria Mexico.
Founded in 1997 by Roberto Martínez Castañeda
Terracota Alfareria introduces an innovating line in the world of pottery. Adaptable and functional in any place, creating a wonderful atmosphere for its unique and exclusive style. In technique terms, the Terracota Alfareria pieces are just like any ceramic made by hand in the world. In aesthetic terms it is a contemporary pottery movement, representing a modern society and its environment, but never forgetting their traditional methods of ancient pottery, which make up its beauty. The designs of the pieces of Terracota Alfareria reflects Nature in shape and color, because Nature represents an endless dialogue between the evolution of the potter and the three principal elements for the creation of clay: water, earth and fire.
”What prompted you to make your own pottery? To go into this business?”
Having come from a Family Pottery Tradition, I found a need to create functional and utilitarian ceramics appropriate to the new trends in modernist architecture in the world without abandoning the traditional methods of ceramics.
”Where do the designs come from? What is the inspiration?”
Our design creations are based on the environments that surround us and the exploration of new trends.
Our inspiration lies in the intricate part of creating.
The biznaga ceramic piece is inspired by the high reliefs of the cactus, and the challenge to replicate.
”What are the materials used?”
We use White clay (which is endemic to the area) and Red clay, covered with ceramic bases, various enamels, oxides, earths, etc.
”What equipment is used?”
The pottery is all hand-made.
The pieces are subjected to a process of elaboration by hand, drying at natural time, burning with the first fire, enameling process, and burning with the second fire.
”Anything about you/your company/your product that you want to share?”
Terracota Pottery opens its doors to the world to share our work and essence.

Original Paintings
My painting started with my dogs – I had relocated to New York City and left my dog, Wolfgang, to live with my parents in the countryside with their dog, Luke. I missed Wolfgang terribly and took to painting him to bring him closer to me. I quite enjoyed it and I got some compliments so I ventured out into painting other people’s dogs as gifts. From there I offered custom paintings for a fundraiser for the Airedale Terrier Rescue of the Virginias (ATRVA) and I was delighted to find that not only were people interested, but the winners, for the most part, enjoyed their paintings. From dogs I ventured into more abstract works once my daughter was born and she started to collaborate with me. I still love painting animals and I also enjoy exploring freeform/expressive works as inspired by my daughter’s fearless and loose technique and love for vibrant colours. For my own artwork, I simply hope to always get better, to create interesting pieces that sometimes have a narrative but always have all my heart invested into whatever I depict.
I still take in commissions to paint dogs, please contact me to start working with you on your project.
To see examples of my work, please see here for reference. It is my hope to bring in pieces of art from various artists – if you are interested in showing your work in the gallery, please contact me either on the contact button above or shoot me an email at info@wolfgangandluke.com .

Lady of the Army
Written by Stefanie Van Steelandt, Lady of the Army is a biography of Beatrice Ayer Patton, wife of General George Patton. Stefanie is a personal friend of mine who spent many hours and travels to source never before shown photographs and correspondence, conducting interviews with Beatrice’s descendants and to craft a successful narrative of the couple’s life together. Ms. Van Steelandt is already working on her second biography, yet to be disclosed. Look forward to a book reading/signing at Wolf’s sometime this summer!

Cornman : Rise of the Kernel Army
This is a young adult publication written by young Turkish/Canadian author Aydin Çimen, who is the son of a friend of mine who moved to Istanbul in 2008. Yes, they have been living through earthquakes including the big one from February 2023. Cornman was a join effort for Aydin and his father Ömer and I am really hoping that Aydin comes out with a sequel.

Candy
When I told my 4-year old daughter about the store, that she could sell lemonade in the summer, she immediately piped up “and candy!!!!” which will endear her even more to my Mexican family as one of their prominent businesses was candy making/selling. My mom’s immediate family is actually known as the candy family in her hometown so we are awfully proud of my daughter’s inclinations! Of course, what child doesn’t want to deal with candy? We will be starting off with movie theatre candy, and hopefully move on to making our own mexican sweets in the future.
